Consider an illustrative example: a trader chooses a low-priced Forex VPS, then adds charts and Expert Advisors until the setup outgrows its resources. An upgrade can increase the bill and require configuration work. Whether a move also uses a software activation depends on the EA licence and the migration method; it is not an automatic cost of every move.
A useful budget comparison starts with the workload and the payment terms. This guide compares five providers and the MetaQuotes first-party hosting alternative on advertised prices, Windows resources, licensing, testing access and broker-route choice. A low headline price can be appropriate for a light setup, but it does not establish the cost or capacity of a multi-terminal portfolio.
Quick takeaway
Choose the smallest plan that passes a test with your actual terminals and EAs. The 4 GB comparison below is a planning starting point for a small Windows portfolio, not a measured minimum for every trader. Separate monthly payments from prepaid offers, verify Windows licensing and refund exclusions, and check sponsored access before paying. MetaQuotes is an alternative for compatible single-account workloads; full Windows VPS plans offer broader software access.
How this comparison was compiled
This comparison is based on provider-published product, hardware, pricing and policy pages checked on 1 October 2026, together with Microsoft and MetaQuotes documentation. The scope is the five providers named below, rather than an exhaustive market ranking. The pricing selectors for VPSForexTrader, NYCServers, AccuWeb and Cloudzy were checked in a browser. Provider claims are identified as such; no independent performance, uptime or trading-execution tests were conducted.
The shared planning workload is a Windows desktop running a small portfolio of MT4 or MT5 terminals and EAs, without concurrent strategy testing. For that workload, the resource comparison uses each provider’s 4 GB configuration. Entry offers are listed separately so a smaller or less expensive plan is not treated as equivalent. Evaluation covers CPU disclosure, RAM and ECC status, storage, Windows version and licensing, published availability terms, locations, and trial or refund access. Unpublished or conflicting details are stated rather than estimated.
All prices are USD as displayed. Prepaid equivalents, promotional rates and renewal references are labelled. Hosting prices exclude applicable taxes and any unquoted add-ons; they are not complete ownership-cost estimates. A reader’s first-year budget is the actual hosting invoice or invoices, plus required licensing, backups and other selected services. Confirm the order total and renewal terms before purchase.
RAM headroom at the budget tier
There is no single RAM requirement for all MT4 or MT5 workloads. The operating system, terminal count, charts, indicators, retained history and EA behaviour all matter. Microsoft lists 2 GB as the minimum for Windows Server with Desktop Experience; that installation requirement does not establish how much memory a trading portfolio will need. [22]
For this guide’s small multi-terminal Windows workload, 4 GB is a practical starting point to test. A lighter setup may fit a smaller allocation, while extensive charts, heavy EAs or backtesting may need more. The 1 GB and 1.5 GB entry offers below sit below the published Desktop Experience RAM minimum, so they should not be treated as equivalent Windows portfolio configurations. Ask the host which Windows image and support conditions apply to those tiers.
During a trial or eligible refund period, load the intended terminals, charts and EAs, allow history to download, and observe RAM use, CPU use and platform logs. Include a representative busy market session where possible. Upgrade when measurements show inadequate headroom, rather than assuming every small plan will fail or require a move within a fixed number of months.
What the headline price leaves out
Billing period and renewal rate can change the apparent ranking. A monthly equivalent on a 12-month or 24-month offer is not a monthly payment. Compare the upfront invoice, the full commitment and the next renewal, then add only costs supported by an actual quote. A Windows trial is not permanent production licensing, and a backup add-on should be budgeted only if it is required for your setup.
Refund rules also differ. QuantVPS excludes discounted purchases from its initial 14-day guarantee. VPSForexTrader terms include a 14-day guarantee on plans other than trials. Cloudzy’s pricing FAQ says its annual discount retains the 14-day guarantee. These policies do not support a blanket assumption that all coupons or annual offers void refunds. Cancellation normally concerns future service; any refund of an existing payment must satisfy the provider’s own terms. [7] [3] [16]
An SLA percentage is not a measured uptime result or a guarantee of trading outcomes. QuantVPS states a monthly commitment, while NYCServers scopes its guarantee to market trading hours. Coverage definitions, exclusions, claim deadlines and remedies need to be compared alongside the percentage. Hosting service credits should not be treated as reimbursement for a lost trade. [8] [9] [13] [17]
Sponsored VPS access before a paid plan
Sponsored access can reduce the hosting bill for eligible traders, but there is no universal volume threshold, hardware allocation or restriction on broker use. Check each programme’s balance or activity requirement, eligible accounts, renewal rules, available plan and software permissions. A trading threshold is not a reason to increase trading activity merely to qualify.
NYCServers offers a free Forex VPS route through participating brokers. Its programme FAQ says multiple brokers and trading platforms can be used on the same VPS, with capacity depending on the allocated resources. Individual sponsor eligibility terms were not verified for this comparison, so confirm them with the sponsoring broker before relying on free access. Do not assume that sponsored services always prohibit multiple brokers or DLL-dependent EAs. [12]
MetaQuotes as a first party alternative
MQL5 Virtual Hosting is managed through MetaTrader and hosts a virtual trading terminal rather than a general Windows desktop. Its main pricing page advertises $15 monthly and $10 per month equivalent on a 12-month plan, with a 24-hour free trial. Its explanatory pricing guide still describes $12.80 per month on annual billing. Because those official pages disagree, the annual offer below is labelled as advertised and the payable total must be confirmed inside MetaTrader. [18] [19]
The guide describes on-demand ceilings of up to 3 GB RAM and up to 16 GB disk space. One rented terminal serves one trading account; there is no RDP desktop. Windows DLL calls are prohibited. Compiled MQL libraries such as EX4 or EX5 are distinct from Windows DLLs, so an external-library dependency is not, by itself, proof of incompatibility. Check the EA’s dependencies and its migration log. MetaQuotes says migration of MQL5 Market products to its virtual platform does not consume available activations. [19] [20] [21] [23]
The service is worth testing for compatible single-account automation. Compare its price with the access and software requirements of the setup. A full Windows VPS is the more flexible route when the software needs RDP access, Windows DLLs or applications outside the virtual terminal.
Entry offers and billing basis
These are entry offers on the providers’ Forex or trading pages, not a claim that every tier meets the planning workload. Standard monthly references are kept separate from the lowest advertised offer. Sources: VPSForexTrader [1], QuantVPS [5], NYCServers [11], AccuWeb [14], Cloudzy [15] [16], and MetaQuotes [18] [19].
| Provider and entry offer | RAM | Standard monthly | Lowest advertised with billing and promotion basis |
| VPSForexTrader Smart | 4 GB | $31.99 | $19.19/month equivalent; $460.66 upfront for 24 months. Current 40 percent offer. The 12-month view is $25.59 equivalent, $307.10 upfront. No extra coupon applied in the capture. |
| QuantVPS Starter | 4 GB | $29.99 | $29.99 paid monthly. No lower prepaid rate shown on the checked plan card. |
| NYCServers Basic | 2 GB | $25 | $16.67/month equivalent; $200 upfront for the first year with the current 20 percent first-invoice offer. Annual reference: $250 upfront, $20.83 equivalent. Monthly first-invoice offer: $20. |
| AccuWeb Forex VPS 1 | 1.5 GB | $15 renewal reference | $7.99 for the introductory monthly payment. Denver, USD, 1-month selection. Renewal reference shown: $15/month. Confirm the promotion and renewal invoice. |
| Cloudzy Forex 1 GB | 1 GB | $6.95 reference | $3.48/month at the current 50 percent offer. Monthly and annual views display the same equivalent; annual payment is upfront. Promotion duration and final invoice require checkout confirmation. |
| MetaQuotes virtual terminal | Up to 3 GB | $15 | $10/month equivalent on the main-page 12-month offer. Its guide says $12.80; confirm the payable annual invoice in MetaTrader. Separate service model. |
Cloudzy’s general cloud pricing also lists a 512 MB tier at $2.48 promotional. It is outside the Forex-page entry offer and was not assessed as a Windows trading configuration. Cloudzy’s annual FAQ describes half the monthly rate, while its current browser banner says both billing options are 50 percent off; do not assume that the annual price is a further half of the displayed promotional monthly price. [16]
Comparable configurations for the planning workload
All five full Windows VPS rows below use 4 GB RAM. This makes the resource comparison consistent without asserting an identical terminal capacity. MetaQuotes is discussed separately because its virtual-terminal access model and resource ceilings differ. CPU and RAM descriptions are vendor-published; ECC not stated means a disclosure gap, not proof of non-ECC hardware.
| Provider and selected plan | CPU RAM and storage | Hosting price for this plan | Windows and licensing |
| VPSForexTrader Smart | 3 AMD EPYC cores 4 GB ECC 120 GB NVMe SSD | $31.99 monthly $307.10 for 12 months $460.66 for 24 months | Windows Server 2025; licensed. |
| QuantVPS Starter | 2 AMD EPYC cores 4 GB DDR4 ECC 50 GB NVMe SSD | $29.99 monthly | Windows Server 2022 pre-installed. |
| NYCServers Standard | 2 CPU cores 4 GB DDR5; ECC not stated 70 GB NVMe SSD | $40 monthly reference $320 for the first annual invoice with 20 percent offer; $400 annual reference | Windows Server 2022 pre-installed; licence included according to provider. |
| AccuWeb Forex VPS 3 | 4 vCPU 4 GB; ECC not stated 45 GB SSD on Denver card | $29.99 introductory monthly payment $47/month renewal reference | Licensed 2019; 2022 or 2025 depends on location. Denver supports 2025. |
| Cloudzy 4 GB Forex | 2 EPYC vCPU 4 GB DDR5; ECC not stated 120 GB NVMe SSD | $28.95 monthly reference $14.48/month current 50 percent offer, shown in both billing views | Windows trial; BYOL for permanent activation. Confirm version and eligible licence. |
The listed amounts are hosting charges, not complete first-year totals. For example, twelve $29.99 QuantVPS payments total $359.88 if the rate is unchanged; VPSForexTrader displays a $307.10 annual invoice. Cloudzy’s complete production cost cannot be calculated without a suitable Windows licensing quote and the confirmed payment terms. Treat rounded per-month equivalents as a guide and use the actual invoice for budgeting. [1] [5] [15]
VPSForexTrader with ECC memory and a paid trial

Smart offers a useful combination for this planning workload: 4 GB ECC, NVMe storage and licensed Windows Server 2025. Its $0.99 three-day trial provides a separate way to validate the setup before a longer subscription; the trial itself is excluded from the normal-plan refund guarantee. [1] [2] [3]
The provider markets New York, London, Amsterdam and Hong Kong locations. Its Amsterdam page uses the Serverius name, but a marketed city label does not independently establish the physical facility address. Choose the route to the actual broker endpoint and request facility details if they matter to the deployment. [1] [4]
ECC corrects certain memory errors, but the presence of ECC does not establish an execution-speed advantage. NVMe is a type of SSD; the specification alone does not prove fewer stalls than another provider’s SSD configuration. Terminal-count claims are vendor sizing guidance and should be tested with the intended EAs.
Strengths: Documented ECC and licensed Windows; a low-priced paid trial; weekly backups on Smart. The trial makes route and workload testing accessible before prepayment. [1] [2]
Limitations: The specific EPYC model is not disclosed on the plan card, and the annual and 24-month offers are temporary marketing prices rather than a guaranteed future renewal discount. Support terms do not specify a fixed response-time commitment. [1] [3]
QuantVPS with ECC and published availability terms

Starter meets the same 4 GB planning allocation. The hardware page names the EPYC 7003 generation for budget plans and documents DDR4 ECC. Standard-plan cards do not include backups. [5] [6]
The service has a futures-first presentation, but it also lists New York, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Tokyo alongside Chicago and publishes an NY4 Forex VPS page. Chicago is the default on the plan cards. Select a region appropriate to the broker and confirm Starter availability there. The CME cross-connect itself does not shorten an unrelated Forex broker route. [5] [10]
QuantVPS publishes a 99.999 percent monthly VPS SLA with conditional service credits and says it forms part of the terms. ToS section 3.1, however, disclaims specific uptime commitments unless separately contracted. Confirm the applicable commitment for the order rather than treating the headline percentage as an unconditional guarantee. [8] [9]
Strengths: Documented ECC hardware, a detailed SLA and a public status page, plus deployment options relevant to Forex as well as futures. [6] [8] [5]
Limitations: Backups require a separate solution on the checked Standard plan. The 14-day guarantee applies to eligible new customers’ initial full-price payment; coupons and other price reductions exclude the purchase. Cancel-anytime does not mean a prorated refund of unused time. [5] [7]
NYCServers with broker matched installation

NYCServers offers to pre-install the selected broker terminals and applications at order. Basic is a 2 GB option; Standard is the 4 GB configuration used here. The actual capacity depends on the EAs and charts, so test the intended workload rather than treating a recommended account count as a fixed terminal limit. [11]
The provider names New York, London, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dublin, with facility identifiers NY4, LD4, TY3, SG1, HK1 and DUB1. The location names do not support attributing all six facilities to Equinix. Its published uptime guarantee covers market trading hours, with conditions and service-credit claims specified in the SLA. [11] [13]
Strengths: Broker-matched setup, included Windows licensing, six named locations and sponsored access. The sponsored programme can support multiple brokers according to its FAQ; confirm the allocated plan and eligibility. [11] [12] [24]
Limitations: ECC status is not stated on the checked plan page. There is no separate paid trial tier; testing routes include the initial 14-day refund and sponsor-dependent free access. The first-invoice discount is not a permanent renewal rate. [11] [13] [12]
AccuWeb with introductory and renewal pricing

AccuWeb offers smaller configurations than the shared benchmark: Forex VPS 1 has 1.5 GB RAM, and Forex VPS 2 has 3 GB. Forex VPS 3 supplies the 4 GB allocation used in the table. Distinguishing introductory from renewal prices is essential to the comparison. The page explicitly documents enabling DLL imports. [14]
Windows Server 2019 is listed across all plans and locations. Windows Server 2022 is restricted to Denver, Hyderabad and London; 2025 requires at least 3 GB RAM and is limited to Denver and London. The Denver cards say SSD while a broader feature section promotes NVMe, so confirm the selected plan’s storage interface rather than assuming it is SATA. [14]
Strengths: Licensed Windows options, explicit DLL guidance and weekly backups advertised for London, Denver and New York. A 3 GB configuration offers another sizing step for a workload that passes testing. [14]
Limitations: ECC is not stated, and the 7-day refund window is shorter than the 14-day routes elsewhere here. The page lists $40/month for five additional device CALs when more than two concurrent RDP connections are needed; this concerns remote desktop access, not the number of MetaTrader terminals. Verify whether the add-on is needed before adding it to a budget. [14]
Cloudzy with low advertised prices and BYOL

Cloudzy’s Forex-page entry price is lower than AccuWeb’s, but the 1 GB offer is not the 4 GB configuration used for this workload. The current pricing selector shows the same 50 percent offer in monthly and annual views. The High Frequency CPU line separately markets 4.2 GHz-plus Ryzen cores, while the Forex cards describe EPYC vCPU. Confirm the selected CPU class at order. [15] [16]
The Forex FAQ says a Windows trial is supplied and permanent activation is BYOL. A complete production total therefore needs a quote for a suitable licence as well as the hosting charge. Installation of the broker terminal is the customer’s task according to the Forex FAQ. [15]
Strengths: NVMe storage, a broad region set and low advertised pricing. Cloudzy states a 99.95 percent monthly SLA and a 14-day refund route; its pricing FAQ says the annual discount retains that refund. [15] [16] [17]
Limitations: Permanent Windows licensing is not bundled on the Forex offer. ECC and facility operators are not identified on the checked Forex page. Cloudzy markets single-digit-millisecond round trips to LD4, NY4 and TY3; measure these vendor-stated figures from the selected VPS to the actual broker server. [15]
Common mistakes that increase the bill
Choosing resources by the cheapest label. A small tier may be suitable for a light workload, but it should pass the same compatibility and performance checks as a larger plan. Do not mix an under-resourced entry offer with a 4 GB portfolio quote when comparing costs.
Confusing a cancellation with a refund. Confirm which initial payments are refundable, whether a discount changes eligibility, and when the request must be submitted. Test promptly; an annual subscription can extend well beyond its refund window.
Assuming sponsored access has uniform conditions. Verify the specific programme, account eligibility and continued activity requirements. A published free-access route is worth checking, but sponsorship does not establish a universal terminal count or software restriction.
Treating a latency claim as a trade-execution measurement. Test the exact broker server from the intended VPS location. Facility branding or a shared metro does not determine the route by itself; network round-trip time is also distinct from order execution time.
Budgeting an unsupported add-on estimate. Use the invoice and a licensing or backup quote where needed. Check renewal rates and software migration requirements before committing to a long term.
Which configuration fits which trader
For a compatible single-account EA that needs no Windows DLL calls or RDP desktop, test MetaQuotes Virtual Hosting. For a light Windows setup with DLL dependencies, compare the smaller full-VPS configurations and their Windows compatibility before moving to a larger plan. AccuWeb documents DLL support, while other full Windows options should be checked against the particular EA requirements.
For a small portfolio, the 4 GB table is a consistent starting point. VPSForexTrader suits a reader who values a separate paid trial and bundled Windows licensing. QuantVPS suits a reader who wants detailed published availability terms and ECC, subject to confirming the applicable agreement and region. NYCServers reduces broker-terminal setup work and also offers a sponsored route. Cloudzy may fit a reader with a suitable Windows licence who values its advertised pricing and regions. These are selection criteria, not results from comparative performance tests.
For heavier EAs or backtesting, test a larger allocation and check whether the plan permits that use. In every case, select by the measured workload, invoice and broker endpoint rather than an unsupported claim of one overall winner.
Three findings
The entry-price ranking is not the workload-cost ranking. A 1 GB offer, a 4 GB Windows VPS and a MetaQuotes virtual terminal represent different configurations and access models. Discounts, renewal rates and licensing can further change the budget.
ECC is documented by both VPSForexTrader and QuantVPS in this comparison. Its status is not stated on the checked NYCServers, AccuWeb and Cloudzy plan pages. That is a disclosure comparison, not evidence that one provider prevents more trading interruptions.
Testing access and the broker route can be more useful than another headline superlative. Use the paid trial, free trial, eligible refund or sponsored programme available to the chosen service, then measure the deployment you will actually run.
FAQ
What is the cheapest option that works for EA trading?
Start with sponsored eligibility and software compatibility, then compare the invoice for a configuration that passes your workload test. Cloudzy has the lower Forex-page entry headline here, but its 1 GB tier and Windows licensing terms differ from the 4 GB comparison. MetaQuotes is a separate single-account alternative.
Is a budget plan with 1 or 2 GB enough for MetaTrader?
A light workload may fit a smaller tier, but the Windows image matters: Microsoft lists 2 GB for Desktop Experience before adding trading applications. Test the full setup and leave headroom. This guide uses 4 GB as a planning starting point for a small portfolio, not a guarantee or a fixed minimum for every EA. [22]
Should I use sponsored VPS access instead of paying?
Check it if you already meet the programme’s conditions. Confirm renewal eligibility, resources, allowed software and broker access. NYCServers publishes a sponsored route and says multiple brokers can be used; individual sponsor terms still govern access. [12]
Will my EA work on MQL5 Virtual Hosting?
Confirm one-account compatibility, DLL dependencies and the current MetaTrader version requirements. A Windows DLL-dependent EA will not run there; native MQL libraries are a different category. Synchronize the setup and inspect its logs during the trial. Use a full Windows VPS when the software needs Windows DLLs, RDP access or other desktop applications. [20] [21] [23]

Editorial note
This comparison is based on provider-published information and the official documentation linked above. Recommendations describe suitability for the stated workload and access requirements; they do not imply independently tested performance. Published uptime, latency and capacity claims need to be read with their conditions. Verify the applicable invoice and policy terms, then validate the actual setup before a long commitment. Hosting cannot guarantee a trading outcome.
